this complex and ever changing environment.

discussions, lectures, and demonstrations, a comprehensive course syllabus
and the opportunity for dialogue with your medical, dental and legal

Course objectives

After completing The
2002-2003
Medical-Dental Legal Update you should be able to:
- Discuss the stages of medical malpractice litigation..
- Identify and avoid many high-risk scenarios encountered by
office-based practitioners in both the clinic and malpractice litigation.
- Identify and respond to bio and chemical terrorism agents and
the medical conditions they cause.
- Avoid compensation arrangements and ancillary service contracts that
run afoul of Stark and anti-kickback legislation.
- Implement techniques for developing and retaining a competent
office staff.
- Discuss HIPAA privacy requirements and take steps to fulfill
them.
- More effectively prepare for a malpractice deposition.
- Identify Hypothyroidism earlier and manage it more effectively.
- More effectively treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.
- More appropriately disclose unanticipated medical outcomes.
- Identify and manage some risks associated with professional use of the
Internet and E-mail.
- Evaluate and manage headache more effectively.
- Discuss the diagnostic criteria and immunology of HIV/AIDS, as
well as current treatment options.
- Discuss legal issues associated with the termination of office
employees.
