As well as giving you the opportunity to experience world-class fishing, we are focused on providing you with a place where you will feel at home in the wilderness, this starts with the staff in the lodge. Our manager and kitchen staff have spent many years on the Alagnak, it truly is a special place to them and their goal is to make it a special place for you.

Alagnak-Lodge-Guide-ScottExperience and Expertise

Your host at the Alagnak Lodge is lodge manager Scott Struznik. Scott has been managing the lodge since 2000, and brings a wealth of experience, having spent close to 30 summers on the Alagnak. It’s safe to say that no-one knows the fishing on the Alagnak River better than Scott, and he is quick to share his wealth of knowledge amongst the guide staff.

Beyond Alaska, Scott has been guiding for over 30 years. In the winter, he runs his own guide service for steelhead and salmon based in Forks, WA. He has guided all over the pacific NW. As well as an expert on gear fishing for kings, Scott is an avid fly fisherman and an accomplished spey caster. Scott has fished many places worldwide, including Canada, India, Pakistan, Africa and the Philippines. Scott holds a United States Coast Guard 100 ton Masters License.

As well as an expert fisherman, Scott is an excellent mechanic and keeps the physical operation running smoothly. He is a licensed welder and electrician.

Kitchen Staff

Sheldon has been working his magic in the kitchen since 2000, and has an infectious enthusiasm for the lodge and the Alaskan wilderness. When he is not in Alaska, Sheldon lives on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state, and also spends time in Juneau, Alaska. Deborah joined the staff in 2007 and has been producing delicious baked goods and freshly made deserts for us since. Deb also lives on the Olympic Peninsula when not at the lodge.
